Samuel Michael ” Mike” Burnette, age 70, of Copperhill, TN passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, June 21, 2018. Mike grew up in the Newtown section of Copperhill. He was a son of the late Maynard Carl and Susan Rebecca McCulough Burnette. He was retired as a Corrugator Operator with the Weyerhaeuser Company and was a member of the Coletown Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Jack Burnette and Betty Ann Burnette Queen.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Alma and Rev. Jesse Sisson of Copperhill, TN; brothers, Charles (Nancy) Burnette of Nashville, TN, Maynard (Margie) Burnette of Michigan; grandson, Eric (Mallory) Sisson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Joey Buchannan and Rev. Jeffrey Roberson officiating. Music will be by Tim Nicholson. Pallbearers include Spencer Wright, Cody Wright, Steve Driskell, Nathaniel Mashburn, Justin Teems and Brett Trantham. Honorary pallbearers include Ricky Nolan, Junior Arp, Danny Cochran and Robert McClure. Interment will follow with a graveside service in the Fairview Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Jesse Sisson and Rev. Brett Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in honor of Mike may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.st.jude.org.
