Mrs. Carolyn Violet Wright, age 82, of McCaysville, GA passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018 at her home. She was born, the sixth child of twelve, to the late Everett Lester and Bessie Price Pennell on July 16, 1935 in North Wilkesboro, NC . She was a member of the Hot House Baptist Church and Emeritus member of Beulah Chapter #21 O.E.S. As her children and grandchildren grew, she was active as a Den Mother in the Scouts and PTA. Carolyn also enjoyed working the voting polls in the late 70’s and early 80’s. She was also preceded death by her husband of fifty six years, Billy Napoleon Wright; and one daughter, Linda Carol Payne.

Survivors include her three sons and two daughters-in-laws, William Wright of Winder, GA, Terry and Joi Wright of McCaysville, GA and Ricky and Teresa Wright of Mineral Bluff, GA; brother, James Pennell of Moravian Falls, NC; sisters and one brother-in-law, Ila Caudill, Iva Lee Watson, Annie Faye Pearson, and Jeanette and Robert Billings all of North Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Joseph Wright, Jonah and wife Katie Wright, Teresa Dailey, Billy Payne, and Skylar Wright; great grandchildren, Carolyn Dailey, Alex Dailey and Jailyn Wright; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Martin and Rev. Pepper Ledbetter officiating. Music will be provided by Kenneth Watson, Kevin Hayworth, and Melba Akins. The following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Joseph Wright, Jonah Wright, Michael Totherow, Jeff Welch, Wes Kimsey and Scott Suit. Interment will follow in Wright family plot in the Pan Will Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
