Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Alvin Day, age 54, of Morganton, GA, passed away on June 2, 2018 in Gainesville, GA. He was born on March 29, 1964 in Duluth, GA, to the late Wilburn Lee and Ruthie Nell Ingram Day. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta and a Veteran of the United States Army serving during Desert Storm. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Leigh Day.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Pittman Day of the home; step-sons, Steven and wife Kristi Dilbeck and Cody Dilbeck all of Ellijay, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Gary Cook; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Helen Pittman of McCaysville, GA; sister-in-law, Patricia Gilliam of Morganton, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max, Jr. and Tina Pittman of Ducktown, TN; grandchildren, Aspen, Summer and Molly Dilbeck; special friend, Stephanie Pittman; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Max Pittman and Rev. Max Pittman, Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by Michael Deal. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Steven Dilbeck, Cody Dilbeck, Chris Gilliam, Dalton Gilliam, Johnny Doll, Michael Deal and Josh Cook. Military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Bishop Nolan Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour of 6:00 p.m. Flowers are acceptable, however donations may be made in honor of Tommy to help defray final expenses.
