Shirley “Sue” Deaton, age 77, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Northside Cherokee Hospital. Mrs. Deaton was born on July 1, 1943 in Fannin County, GA to the late Harrison and Birdie Sealbolt Norton. She was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church and had retired as a seamstress from Levi Strauss in Blue Ridge.
She is survived by her husband; J.T. Deaton of Blue Ridge; son, Gary Deaton of Blue Ridge; brothers, Jim Norton of Blue Ridge, Albert Norton of Blairsville, Jerry Norton of Cherry Log, Junior Norton of Blue Ridge, and Jessie Norton of Ringold; sisters, Kip Cooper of Ellijay, Etta Kyle of Flowery Branch, and Donnie Norton of Ellijay.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Jess Posey officiating. Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jerry Norton, Jerry Cooper, John McClure, Isaac McClure, Jacob McClure and Mike Johnson.
