Lavern Frazier Jones, age 70, of Turtletown, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 in Turtletown, TN. He was born on February 19, 1948 in Copperhill, TN. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He retired from TVA and also worked for the Tennessee Chemical Company. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Lavern Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lois Ritchie Jones of the home; children, Darrell (Tiffany) Jones of Turtletown and Jessica (Anthony Mariano) Orton of Murphy; grandchildren, Seth Carter, Brody Orton, Alexis Jones, and Isabella Jones; mother, Atha (John) Lentz of Cleveland; and sisters, Vivian (Barry) Gurley of Farner and Roberta Taylor of Farner.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11:00 am from Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Payne will officiate. Interment will follow in the Farner Presbyterian Cemetery. Music will be provided by Billy Wayne and Eric Chastain. Seth Carter, Ben Jory, Joe Mathis, Robert Ensley, Wesley Jones, Randall Brendle will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Indian Brendle, Danny Cole, Jeff Deal, Charles Kimsey, and Johnny “Spider” Johnson. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
