WhoDunIt? BRMAA hosts a unique annual event

BLUE RIDGE, Ga. – Imagine finding that perfect work of art. It is the piece that will tie together your room, or one that just speaks to you evoking emotion every time you gaze upon it.

Some of the works displayed at the WhoDunIt? exhibit.

Now imagine that work of art being taken right out from under your fingertips in a matter of minutes, and now you must make a 30-second decision to choose another beautiful work.

This is the idea behind the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) Sixth Annual WhoDunIt? show. Every year BRMAA hosts this no-holds-barred art grab, and participants are never disappointed.

Guests and artists alike braved the weather on Saturday, Nov. 18, to experience this unique event.

Artists donated their beautiful works for the show. The pieces were then carefully displayed in a room for previewing. It is there that guests can gaze upon the beautiful works and select the piece that they hope to make their own.

Whatever your taste in art, you are sure to find a must-have piece in this show. BRMAA Executive Director Nichole Potzauf stated of the donated works, “There is jewelry to pottery. We have leather making and then traditional visual arts.”

Participants have the opportunity to preview works at WhoDunIt?.

It is after the opening preview that participants face a twist. Each guest is given a number, and according to a raffle, you are allowed to enter the room and grab that piece of art you are just dying to take home – if it has not already been claimed.

Participants crowd the Art Center’s foyer and wait for their number to be called. The first five people to enter have one minute to select a work of art. After that, each person is only allowed 30 seconds in the room.

The donated works vary in value, with a minimum value of $50.00. Potzauf explained that there is no limit to the value of a piece that can be donated: “We’ve had pieces before that are up to $1,000.”

No matter the outcome of the raffle, everyone leaves with a stunning work of art and a true one-of-a-kind experience to share with fellow art lovers.
