Dorothy E. Garren: Obituary

Dorothy E. Garren, age 84 of Blue Ridge, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1933 in Mineral Bluff, GA to the late Avery and Pearl Hughes Henson. Mrs. Garren was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Garren; children, Shirley Shepherd and Gary Garren; grandson, Jeremy Garren; brothers, Herman, Cub and Lake Henson; sisters, Inez Davis, Elsie Cross and Zonel Henson.

Survivors are children, Jerry Garren (Cindy) of Morganton, GA, Gregory “Gig” Garren (Gayer) of Buchanan, GA, Rick Garren of Mineral Bluff, GA, Tammy Daly (Ted) of McDonough, GA, Scott Garren of Mineral Bluff, GA and Barbara Daniel (Dante) of Andrews, NC; grandchildren, Angie Shepherd, Lisa Shepherd, Joy Shepherd, Heather Garren, Deena Norton, Bethany Garner, Leann Woody, April Dehart, Kelly Garren, Autumn Garren, Colby Shepherd, Jordan Garren, Brian Garren, Lucas Garren, Corey Scroggs and Adam Garren and numerous great-grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from New Liberty Baptist Church with Preacher Jimmy Dickey officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jordan Garren, Brian Garren, Ted Daly, Adam Bell, Coby Shepherd, Aquieleo Rete and Wesley Osborn. Honorary Pallbearers were Lucas Garren, Corey Scoggs and Adam Garren.   Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
