William Emory Davenport, age 71, of Rome,GA passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Rome, GA. Born on January 27, 1946 in Marion, IL, he was the son of the late Eulis Larkin Davenport and Helen May McCormick Davenport. He worked at Mohawk Carpets as a Tufting Machine Operator and was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam Combat Veteran, serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Lawrence Bice of Copperhill, TN, Rosemary Tarpley of Blue Ridge, GA, and Teresa and Joey Pittman of Blue Ridge, GA; a brother, Steve Davenport of McCaysville, GA; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Interment will follow in New Antioch Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by North Georgia Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
