Mrs. Winona Bennett Bailey: Obituary

Winona Bennett Bailey, age 85, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on July 16, 2017 in Chattanooga, TN. Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Uel Levi and Olympia Moorehead Bennett. She attended Agnes Scott College and later graduated from Georgia State University earning her Masters Degree in Education. She retired from the Dekalb County Public School System after many years of service. She along with her late husband, Gene K. Bailey were members of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons and two daughter-in-laws, John K. and Linda Bailey of Alpharetta, GA, Greg Bailey of Blue Ridge, GA and Kenton and Jennifer Bailey of Cumming, GA; one grand daughter, Andrea Mahne; and one great grand daughter, Elizabeth Mahne.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with Dr. James Hughes officiating. Interment will follow on Friday, July 21, 2017 in the Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Fannin County Library in her memory at 400 W. Main St. Suite 104 Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA is in charge of the arrangments.
