Clara Godfrey Sisson, age 66, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home. She was born on June 14, 1950 in Copperhill, TN to the late Roy Steve Godfrey and Beulah Patterson Godfrey. She was a very strong, loving, and selfless woman who devoted her life to taking care of her family. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Wayne Bowling, Sr. and Ray Sisson and her son, Billy Wayne Bowling, Jr.

She is survived by her son, Brian (Robin) Bowling of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; daughters, Karen Bowling Van Zandt of McCaysville, GA and Sheila York of McCaysville, GA; sisters, Margie Roland of Westminister, CO, Margaret Fisher of Woodstock, GA, Lougenia Wilson of McCaysville, GA and Karen Land of Murphy, NC; and grandchildren, Kristen Brown, Gabriel Bowling, Taylor Van Zandt, Jacob Van Zandt, Tara Bowling, and Matthew Brown.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 7:00 pm from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home. Min. Tom Reed will officiate. Music will be provided by Kenny and Kim O’Neal. Interment will be in the Crestlawn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit the family on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Sisson and her son, Billy Wayne Bowling, Jr.’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
