Mrs. Carol Watson: Obituary

J. Carol Watson, 70, of Clarkesville, Georgia died unexpectedly May 17, 2017.

Carol was born January 31, 1947 in Valdosta, Georgia. She lived and raised her children in Smyrna, Georgia. The past year was spent retired and living with her husband in Clarkesville enjoying the North Georgia Mountains.

She worked in the medical field for many years. She worked at Brawner, Ridgeview, and St. Joseph’s Hospitals in records and credentialing of staff. Her area of expertise was medical credentialing at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Carol is survived by her husband, Hugh Keith Watson, her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Keith and Beth Daves Watson, her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David Rockey, her son-in-law, Andre Els, her grandchildren Kelsey, Alyssa, Carson, Ryan, Connor, and Savannah, her brother and sister-in-law Thomas Wayne and Angela Wilburn.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Angela Els, brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Nancy Wilburn, and parents H.L. and Ruth Elizabeth Wilburn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Doug Simonds. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church of Epworth Cemetery. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Glenn Watson, David Rockey, Ryan Rockey, Andre Els, Connor Els, Eric Turner, and Joey Ray. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Epworth First Baptist Church “Cemetery Fund” – PO Box 187, Epworth, GA 30541. Phone 706-492-4242.
