Mr. Spence Dilbeck: Obituary

Mr. Spence Dilbeck, age 85, of Epworth, GA passed away March 27, 2017 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Fannin County, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Lela Pack Dilbeck. Spence served this country during the Korea War in the United States Army with the Tank Artillery. Later he worked for the Tennessee Chemical Company and Burger’s Pontiac in McCaysville doing body repair. He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle and was affectionately remembered for sitting in his lawn chair and waiving at every car traveling Madola Road. He was also a long time member of the Lebanon Baptist Church. Also preceding him in death was four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kathleen Dilbeck of the home; four children and their spouses, Larry and Pam Foster of McCaysville, GA, Dwayne and Mitzi Foster of Cleveland, TN, Robin and Sam Verenna of Louisville, KY and Allison and Tony Lewis of Woodstock, GA; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis and Rev. Rubin Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Carol Thomas and Tara Underwood Mudd. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Foster,Micah Foster, Harrison Lewis, Todd Dilbeck, Johnny Ritchie and Richard Rymer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org, Pruitt Health Hospice at 6050 Appalachian Hwy. Blue Ridge, GA 30513 or to Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Luther Mathis P.O. Box 309 Epworth, GA 30541. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
