Mr. John Gregory “Greg” Thrasher: Obituary

John Gregory “Greg” Thrasher, age 67, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home. Born on October 19, 1949 in Copperhill, TN, he was the son of the late Johnny O. Thrasher and Ruth Arlene Cash. He was a life long resident of Fannin County. He never met a stranger, loved his family, and was always ready to help a friend or neighbor at a moment’s notice. He had worked for the Tennessee Copper Company and later with with the Blue Ridge Supply Company. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald David Thrasher.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Joan Frances Fair Thrasher of the home; son, John Anthony “Tony” Thrasher of Morganton; daughter, Lisa Thrasher Dockery of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Christian Elijah Dockery and Ella Victoria Dockery; uncles, Ron Cash of Crossville, TN and Wallace (Pud) Thrasher of Blue Ridge; aunt, Wanda Thrasher Rose of Blue Ridge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will visit with friends at the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mr. Thrasher’s wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Mr. Thrasher to the American Diabetes Association at 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202 or online at www.diabetes.org.
