Mr. Thomas Roy Mashburn, Jr. : Obituary

Mr. Thomas Roy Mashburn, Jr. age 73 of Morganton, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 20, 2017. Mr. Mashburn was born January 15, 1944 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Thomas Roy Mashburn, Sr. and the late Ivalee Arp Mashburn. Tommy was a Veteran having served in the Army during Vietnam and an active member of Calvary Holiness Church taking on the role of Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Greta Sue Mashburn, grandson, Steven Thomas Mashburn, and three brothers, Clifford Mashburn Earl Mashburnand Clyde Mashburn.

Survivors include loving wife of fifty years, Jean Nicholson Mashburn, daughter, Brenda (Bruce) Davis, two sons, Rex (Angel) Mashburn, Joe (Jennifer) Mashburn, sister, Ruth (Tommy) Townsend, two brothers, Howard (Irene) Mashburn, Earl (Joyce) Mashburn and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mashburn, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be David Mashburn, Bubba Janes, Jeremy Mashburn, Bruce Davis, Richard Reeves, Jason Raper, Neil Collis, Leroy Norton and Tommy Delaney. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Davis, Bradley Davis, Junior Collins, Tommy Townsend, Robert Mashburn and Wade Beavers.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5-9 pm.
