Elmer McKinley Trantham, age 88, of Copperhill, TN passed away on February 17, 2017. Born in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late George and Mary Jones Trantham. He enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting, camping and four wheeling. He was a Poultry Farmer for many years and a long time member of the New Hope Holiness Apostolic Church. Also preceding him death is his wife, Sally Brown Trantham; one son, Steve Trantham; brothers, Clyde, Alvin, Winford and Jimmy Trantham; sisters, Lucille Panter, Georgia Spivey and Ganil Parsons; grand daughter, Melissa Trantham.

Survivors include one son, Stanley Trantham; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Wade Collins; daughter-in-law, Cindy Trantham all of Copperhill, TN; brothers, Johnny Trantham of Copperhill, TN and Roy Trantham of Balsam, NC; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Prater and Bro. Jeremy Tipton officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Apostolic Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jon Kimsey, Mike Stuart, Caleb Collins, Chris Trantham, John Trantham and David Trantham. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: T.J. Harris, Gilbert Johnson, Winston Jones, Leon Queen, Johnny Ray Jones, Morris Jones, Claude Brown, Danny Whitener, Ike Collins, Randall Trantham, Timmy Trantham, Jeff Trantham, John Grizzell and Ray Trantham.
