WFES Holds Mock Election

West Fannin Elem

Mrs. Arp’s 4th grade Social Studies class sponsored a Presidential Mock Election at West Fannin Elementary School on Election Day. Each student at West Fannin Elementary was given a chance to cast a paper ballot for a presidential candidate of their choosing. The 4th graders used a three person system to collect and record the results. Each class then analyzed the data. They discussed the rights and responsibilities of being a US citizen, and the provisions made in the Constitution for a president. School wide 446 students voted, the winner elected by the students was Donald Trump, with a 69% overall majority. Hillary Clinton scored 19% of the votes, 8% for Gary Johnson, 3% Jill Stein, and 1% of the students wrote in another candidate.
