Mr. James Arthur Elrod, age 80, of Turtletown, TN passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016. Mr. Elrod was a native of the Copper Basin area and was self employed as a farmer and wood logger. He was preceded in death by son, James Ray Elrod and daughter, Annie Marie Gober.
He is survived by children, Tommy Joe (Diane) Elrod of Dalton, GA; Linda (Randall) Jones of Cleveland, TN, Norma Lee (Pete) Walker of Turtletown, TN; sister, Ruby Lee Bain of Cohutta, GA; four grandchildren, Dewayne Powell, Carolee Brancefield, Nikki Gober and Donovan Rose; three great-grandchildren, Clay Brancefield, Cole Brancefield and Jaxon Powell.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Mike Jarrett and Rev. James Whaley officiating. Music will be by Jeremiah Jarrett. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
