East Fannin 5th Graders Win Fannin County 4-H Pop Tab Contest
East Fannin Elem May 16, 2016
The Ronald McDonald Houses provide a “home away from home” for families from all across the Southeast and beyond with seriously ill children being treated at one of the local area hospitals. The House relies on donations from the community and fundraising projects to help provide for the families finding refuge at the House. In 1999, The Ronald McDonald Houses initiated a Pop Tab Recycling Program, which not only raises additional revenue for their organization but also has a positive impact on our environment.
Fannin County 4-H’ers at all three elementary schools competed in a contest to see which school’s 5th grade could collect the most pop tabs for this 4-H community service project.
This year, 5th graders from East Fannin Elementary School won the contest by collecting the most pounds of pop tabs.
Any group or individual can donate their pop tabs to Fannin County 4-H to help the Ronald McDonald House. Bring pop tabs in a zip-lock bag to the Fannin County Extension Office. Put a label on the bag with your school’s name on it.
