Mrs. Tommie Jo Williams Hamby, age 73 of Copperhill, TN passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Bradley Health and Rehabilitation in Cleveland, TN. She was born in Copperhill to the late Harvey Jackson and Edith Ramsey Williams. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Postelle. She enjoyed Vacation Bible School and served as the social director of the church. She worked as a telephone operator for AT&T for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by sisters, Ada Lenoir Williams and Anne Frances Williams Henry.
She is survived by sons, William Gregory Hamby of Cartersville, GA, Lonnie Darrell Hamby and wife Cindy of Kennesaw, GA, and Harold DeWayne Hamby and wife LeAnn of Cleveland, TN; brother, Jack Williams of Spencer, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and John Free of Morganton, GA; grandchildren, Kristen Hamby, Lonnie Hamby, Shane Hamby, Dalton Hamby, Natalie Hamby, Hailey Hamby, and Hannah Hamby.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 14th at 11:00 A.M. from Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Ledford and Rev. James Jenkins officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby & Susie Nanny and Blair Cantrell.The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Dalton Hamby, Lonnie Hamby, Shane Hamby, Christian Howell, Mark Holder, and Jimmy Davis. Les Nickle, Gene Williams and John Free will serve as an honorary escort. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Hamby will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
