Junior H. Hopkins, age 87, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Turtletown, TN, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016.
He was born on May 28, 1928 in Polk County, TN to the late William David and Martha May Wilson Hopkins. He retired from Tennessee Copper Company where he worked as a pipe fitter and welder. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the Farner Presbyterian Church. He was a Korean War combat veteran serving in the United States Army. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the Ducktown Lodge #241 F&AM for over fifty years and was a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlie Jean Runion Hopkins; and sisters, Christine Morrow and Dorothy Morrow.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Diane Hopkins of Marietta, GA and Dale and Pam Hopkins of Turtletown, TN; brothers, Johnny Hopkins of Nelson, GA and Ronnie Hopkins of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Helen Ann Nix of GA; grandsons, Jake Hopkins and his wife Brittney Hopkins of Ducktown, TN, and Joel Hopkins and his fiance Brittney Kirkland of Turtletown, TN; four nieces, two nephews; and Mr. Wilson was anticipating the birth of his great grandson that is due to arrive in June.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with the service conducted by North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be members of the Ducktown Lodge #241 F&AM. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
