The Fannin County High School Rebels tennis contingent split two region matches last week, with a 3-2 victory over the East Hall Vikings last Tuesday and a 5-0 shutout at the hands of the Dawson Tigers last Thursday.
Against the Vikings, Tucker Hardison defeated Rebel Trevor Neal 6-1, 6-0. Blake Cobb beat Viking Jonathan Castillo 6-3, 6-1, while Paul Walker picked up a 6-3, 7-5 victory for Fannin over Josh Serrano. The duo of Aaron Walden and Grant Fitts then toppled Juan Nieto and Daniel Restrepo 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, before a forfeit broke the deadlock and gave the Rebels the victory.
The sweep by the Tigers started with Dillard Blanton downing Neal 6-1, 6-1. Hayden Roper bested Cobb 6-2, 6-7, 7-4, while Tristan Ingram defeated Walker 6-1, 6-0. Derek Chambers and Casey Passmore beat Walden and Fitts 6-4, 6-4 in doubles play, before a forfeit gave the Tigers the 5-0 sweep.
The Rebels are now 2-2 (1-1 in region play) for the year. Fannin will host Lumpkin today and West Hall Thursday, for two more region matches.
