Kaleighann Ware, representing East Fannin Elementary; Simone O’Neal, Blue Ridge Elementary; Madison Denton, West Fannin Elementary; and, Kaylee Scarbary, Fannin County Middle School faced off in the 2016 Fannin County School System Spelling Bee. “Bandersnatch”, a dog-like creature from Alice in Wonderland, caused the first elimination. After 26 words, Kaylee Scarbary won with the word “pretzel”.Kaylee will move on to the Feb. 27th district competition in Rome, GA.
The spelling bee is for students in grades 4-8. Georgia Association of Educators writes the rules for the spelling bee, including the list of acceptable words, even bandersnatch.
