Top ranking juniors and seniors visited the University of Georgia on November 16 and 17, respectively.  Counselors Jennifer Walker and Tammy Roberts, along with graduation coach Jill Key and media specialist Blake Turner led the campus tours.  Students toured several college land marks, such as The Ramsey Center, UGA Bookstore, The Chapel Bell, Herty Field, Sanford Stadium, and The Arch.

For lunch students dined in The Tate Student Center.  Former FCHS alumni,  now current UGA students stopped by to visit the students and share their unique, personal college perspective.  The trip to the Classic City ended with an hour long information session.  A UGA representative explained admission requirements, sharing that the current University of Georgia freshmen have set a new record for academic quality, with the highest GPA and SAT scores in the university’s 230-year history.

The approximately 5,300 first-year students began fall semester with an average GPA of 3.91 and an average SAT score of 1301.  In addition, students heard about scholarship, internship, extra-curricular, and study abroad opportunities. The field trip was funded by the Academic Booster Club and Fannin High.
