Seniors Hold their Traditional Bonfire

Uncategorized

The 2015 senior Fannin Rebel class held its annual bonfire after the Rabun-Fannin JV game. The underclassmen formed a circle and waited for the 11 member senior class to arrive at the circle. Jerrod Petty and Jack Roper led the group to the circle carrying the ashes of the past Rebel seniors, a tradition at Fannin High School in which the ashes from past years are spread on the fire. Each member brings an item and places it in the fire and shares memories about there time together as a brotherhood. Jerrod Petty, Jack Roper, Dominik Leben, Christian Resendiz, Tyler Jones, Dylan Frank, Dakota Archie, Jean Zamora, Adam Ingram, Daniel Kinser and Hunter Neal all took turns talking about their time together, whether it was one year or several years, and how they will all remember the good times and the bad.

As i started to record each player as they spoke i thought to myself. A coach told me once to always leave everything on the field, to never bring it back to the locker room. Well i decided that tonight was that moment in time when things should be left on the field. I will say this, it was emotional at times to see these young men potentially say goodbye to a sport that they have grown up playing.

The Fannin Rebels are hosting the Franklin Lions in the most important game any of these seniors have played. The game that puts them into the 2015 AAA Playoffs. Coach Pavao has repeatedly told his men that this is a “Play-In” game. If Fannin is able to pull the upset against Franklin it will put them in third place in the region and a first round playoff game at Adairsville next Friday.

I did however record the beginning and Coach Pavao at the end.

Coach Pavao sends off his 2015 Seniors

Fetchyournews and TeamFYNSports has and will always showcase these young men in a manner that is befitting of the Fannin Rebel name. We have enjoyed this year, both at the games and on our weekly show. We wish all the 2015 Rebel Football Seniors good luck this Friday and wish them all the best in their futures.

It has been an honor and privilege to have spent the past two years on the sidelines watching you grow as both players and young men and i personally want to wish you all luck in your futures, after we beat Franklin and get that first round game in the playoffs.

As a coach’s wife, parent of a Junior player, and as a Rebel fan, I am so proud of the accomplishments that these seniors have made and the whole team in general. They have come a long way from the first time I watched them play in 2014. They have overcome adversity and have stepped up to fill the gap wherever needed. They believe in the “team” and play as a team. The “I” is not part of their vocabulary. Yes, last night was a night I will never forget. These seniors touched my heart like nothing else. I couldn’t be any more proud of our seniors!
