Pauline Harper Bell passed away on October 24, 2015 in her Ducktown home surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born on February 16, 1920 to G. Roy Harper and Sarah Turner Harper of Cutcane, GA near Mineral Bluff. While studying at Young Harris College Pauline met her beloved future husband David Bell from Ducktown and they married in 1941. Like many men during that time, David soon after was on active military duty and Pauline joined him whenever possible. After the war they settled in Ducktown where they remained for the rest of their lives. Pauline completed her college studies at Tennessee Wesleyan College and spent over 20 years teaching elementary grades in the Polk County Tennessee school system. Many Polk County children learned about mathematics, Tennessee history, and how to play softball from “Mrs. Bell”.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents G. Roy and Sarah Harper, her husband David Bell, sister Inez Harper Hood, and brother Harold Harper.

She is survived by daughter Sharon Blake, Morristown, TN. son Bruce Bell (Martha), Jefferson City, TN, and Neal Bell (Rebekah), Signal Mountain, TN. Grandchildren include Marc Blake (Alison), Laurie Blake Billing (Brian), Paul Blake (Diana), Paige Bell, Brett Bell (April), Adam Bell (Stephanie), Sarah Bell McKenna (Sean), and Whitney Bell, as well as five great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Catherine Cain and Doyle Harper (Kari)

Pauline worshiped at Mine City Baptist Church of Ducktown. A funeral service will be held on October 31, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, McCaysville, GA. with Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Visitation with family will immediately precede the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery.
