James Patrick McMenamin: Obituary

Mr. James Patrick McMenamin, age 76, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. McMenamin was born on Monday, March 13, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John McMenamin and Katherine Nichols McMenamin. His career included15 years at Philadelphia Suburban Water Company in new business development in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He furthered his career in Florida working in warehouse management for Dobbs International Services, Inc., an airline food service provider, and Hughes Supply Corporation. He later was a postal freight contractor working for various firms.

Whether you knew Mr. McMenamin as “Jim”, “Sarge”, or “Mac”, you always knew him more as “friend.” Jim was a man that always wanted to help and one that never met a stranger. Jim loved to entertain, always filling his deck with good food and a plethora of friends. He was a member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church where he was an active member always ready and willing to help with many projects over the years. With his caring heart, Jim was very involved with Toys for Tots and was a member of the Marine Corps. Foundation. Jim served our country in the Marine Corp where he stayed in the reserves for 32 years. Throughout the remainder of his life he kept a very big and open heart for anyone serving our country or anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife of 25 wonderful years, Kemille McMenamin of the home; son, James (Andrea) Patrick McMenamin, Jr. of Collegeville, PA and daughter Sandy (Mark) McMenamin, DePhillips of West Chester, PA,; grandchildren; David (Autumn) Gladden, Colton McMenamin, Connor McMenamin, Grant DePhillips, Nick DePhillips, and Jason DePhillips; a brother, Jack (Carolyn) McMenamin of Media, PA; and a sister, Helen Ernst of Palm Harbor, FL; and former wife of 15 years, Carol Farrow McMenamin of Rosemont, PA.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Victor Morgan and Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Music vocals will be provided by Brian Huffman, pianist, Judy Chaney and bagpiper, Steve Thrasher. Interment will follow at Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Grant DePhillips, Jason DePhillips, Nick DePhillips, Chuck Mayo, Jim McMenamin, Jr., and Mark DePhillips. Military Honors will be provided by the Marine Corps. Friends may attend the viewing and visit the family Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church Building Fund or The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, www.marineheritage.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
