The Elites Are Losing It

Opinion

Opinion by George McClellan:

The MSM headlines gleefully continue to portend doom for the GOP, especially as Donald Trump remains the far out leader and quite probably the next Republican candidate for the Presidency. Carson is close behind and the two have thrown the GOP ruling class into a frenzy.

This is a major dilemma for the GOP’s ruling class. It has even caused former president George W. Bush, to lose it at a closed door meeting of GOP donors, planners and elites, when he  bashed Ted Cruz in defending his brother Jeb.  Apparently Kevin McCauley isn’t the only politician who allowed his mouth to overload his mind because almost instantly the former president’s words spread around the media like wildfire through Twitters, Facebook.

Actually, the GOP is facing its worst nightmare. It’s coming apart at the seams. Trump and Carson, both political outsides (I don’t forget Ted or Carly), have aroused a base that was in danger of apathy and who are sick and tired of politics as usual in Washington DC.  Trump and Carson, speaking truth, have energized that lethargic base. I no longer anticipate even the remote possibility, that the “elites” will recover in time to save the party for their purposes. Soon, the GOP will naturally morph into a Constitutional serving Tea Party apparatus that will restore good order and discipline to the corrupt political process.

We read that the GOP’s governing elites fear Trump is tarnishing the GOP Brand? What brand would that be? Corruption? Compromise with Socialists against Republican principles? Giving alleged president Obama nearly everything he wants simply because he threatens a veto? I don’t think so!  By inaction, the GOP has tarnished its own brand. I always thought the GOP brand was less government, less taxes, obey the constitution, promoting self-reliance and self-independence and support a working economy that raises all boats. So, who has tarnished the GOP brand? It can’t be Trump. He wasn’t there.Trump has gumption and is not afraid.

Right now, the GOP is in flux. The nobility class is in chaos. Is this the end of the Republican Party’s role in classic cronyism? Can we see an end to that corrupt system of campaign financing where cash flow from big business, big labor and worlds bankers, ensures that their bought and paid for politicians do as they are told? Naw!, don’t bet on it!  The love of money is too big a player in politics except to the very righteous. It is the tarnish on the brand.

What we see happening in the GOP now is the beginning of the end of the GOP as we have known it. It will be ugly. The elites are already plotting the destruction of Trump and Carson and, at the moment, Ted Cruz too. This was once like swatting at gnats buzzing around their faces, but now, the gnats have become horse flies, harder to kill and they bite hard.

The House GOP conference is having a bit of trouble choosing a “leader.” That’s good! For some reason some think they need a “Captain America” and are being guided to consider Paul Ryan. His demands to accept that position have already made him unacceptable. The House doesn’t need a republican version of a dictator, which it seems he wants. The Conservative Representatives who got rid of Boehner, should not acquiesce to this demand. It will not solve the basic problem affecting the two opposite political philosophies now contending for America’s  soul. Trump may very well become the GOP brand. GOP, beware!

Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em! (21 Oct 2015)
