Mrs. Mary Lucille O’Neal, age 71, of McCaysville, GA, passed away September 10, 2015 in the Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Born in Higdon, GA, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence Bell Mathis. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. O’Neal enjoyed traveling and working in her garden. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Ebbie O’Neal of the home; two children, Rebecca Ann Davis and husband Richard of Morganton, GA and Ricky O’Neal of OH; brother and sister-in-law, Carson and Mary Mathis of McCaysville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Edgar Cantrell also of McCaysville, GA; grandchildren, Brett Davis, Brad Davis and Matthew O’Neal; and step grandson, Josh Lacy.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Ed O’Neal and Rev. Melvin O’Neal officiating. Music will be provided by the O’Neal family. Interment will follow in the Patterson Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Richard Davis, Jamie Cantrell, Russell Cantrell, Waylon O’Neal, Ranier Mathis and Jonas Alfredsson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Edgar Cantrell, Carl Albertson, Donald Stewart and Clyde Welch. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday after 2:00 p.m. but especially from 5-9 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
