Mrs. Catherine Eva “Ma” Payne: Obituary

Mrs. Catherine Eva “Ma” Payne, age 85 of McCaysville, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Payne was born October 31, 1929 in Fannin County, GA to the late Andrew Jackson Huffman and the late Martha Thomas Huffman. A member of Mobile Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by husband, Jeppie Payne, four brothers, Carl, Clint, Clyde and AJ Huffman, and two sisters, Jessie Johnson, and Bertha Dunn. Mrs. Payne enjoyed camping and traveling in her spare time. She liked animals and owned many pets in her lifetime, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was lovingly referred in the community by “Ma Payne”

Survivors include: son, Larry (Brenda) Payne, two granddaughters, Angie (Mark) Young and Christie (Don) Rose, four great-grandchildren, Damon Rose, Amy Young, Eli Young and Hayden Rose and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. David McLendon officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church from 2-3 pm on Sunday. Music provided by Amy Young and the Howard Family. Interment will follow in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6-9 pm. Flowers will be accepted by the family or you may make a donation to the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (Lebanon Baptist Church, Attn: Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 309, Epworth, GA 30541) or the Mobile Cemetery Fund (Steve Patterson, In memory of Mrs. Catherine Payne, 811 Pierceville Rd., McCaysville, GA 30555).
