Daily Prayer: 07/13

Proverbs 10:1-5 “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but thwarts the craving of the wicked. A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.”
Father in heaven, you have taught us in the Ten Commandments to honor our fathers and our mothers. We honor them not so much by our words but by the kind of persons that we become. If we are spiritually wise we will delight their hearts. If we are greedy and get gain by wicked means, we will break their hearts. If we are diligent in our work, we show them that their investment in us was worth it. If we are slothful, we become dependent on our parents for support.

Help us to be prudent in our careers, devoted to our families, and true to our faith. In so doing we shall hear the clapping of nail scarred hands and praise from our fathers and mothers.
