Proverbs 3:27-29 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it’ – when you have it with you. Do not plan evil against your neighbor who dwells trustingly beside you.”
Our Father in heaven, all who know you are our brothers and sisters in Christ and you want us to treat them in a manner similar to the way you have welcomed us into your presence. You have been exceedingly kind and thoughtful to us and you want us to be aware of the needs of our neighbors.
Today, when it is in our power to do good to someone help us not to withhold our goodness from them. We have been in need often and others have reached out their hand to us. Help us to be good neighbors and maintain the trust they have placed in us. Teach us just how much a good faith depends on a right relationship with others. Serving others is serving you and that is our great mission.
If this person who pauses for prayer just now sees someone in need today, help this one to have the joy of doing something about it. In Jesus name.
Amen.
