Daily Prayer: 07/01

Matthew 6:13 “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Our Father, evil attempts to seduce us every day. The appeal of the evil one is disguised in things that appear to be beautiful on the surface. Although you have given us a new nature in Christ, our old nature is not completely dead and will not be until we are out of this life. All of your saints are vulnerable and can be deceived if the watch is not diligently kept.

Lead us in paths that do not provoke temptation. Give us the wisdom to see the wiles of the devil who as a roaring lion goes about seeking whom he may devour. We pray this especially for our youth that they will not get their lives so entangled like a mesh of string that it will take years to untangle them.

Deliverance is such a beautiful word. Deliver us this day from encounters with evil that overcome us. Help us to be victorious in winning over ourselves and the temptations that confront us. Jesus won over the wilderness temptations of Satan by claiming the promises of scripture. We will today hide your word in our hearts so that we will not sin against you.

Amen.
