Mr. James Paul Fitts, Jr. : Obituary

James Paul Fitts, Jr., age 92 of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the Pruitt Health Care in Blue Ridge. He was born on Monday, January 29, 1923 in Cedartown, GA to the late Paul Fitts, Sr. and Grace Eaton Fitts. He owned and operated an insurance company in Blue Ridge. Mr. Fitts was a member of Blue Ridge United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Blue Ridge VFW Post #6570. Mr. Fitts was a member of the Blue Ridge Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ralston Fitts and a sister, Nell Moody.

Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, James Fitts, III and Linda of Blue Ridge, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Gina Mitchell and David of Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Nathan Fitts, Julie Fitts Queen, Matt Mitchell and Macy Anderson and seven great grandchildren, Courtney, Colin and Carley Queen, Logan and Grant Fitts and Ryllie and John David Mitchell also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Music was by Edward and Austin Vest. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park with Full Military Honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Nathan Fitts, Matt Mitchell, Grant Fitts, Logan Fitts, Colin Queen and Darren Queen. Honorary Pallbearers were Members of VFW Post #6570 of Blue Ridge. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Kiwanis Children’s Playground Fund, P.O. Box 7, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
