Mr. Jeffrey Paul Jones, Sr. : Obituary

Mr. Jeffrey Paul Jones, Sr., age 67, of Blairsville and Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at his Blairsville home. Mr. Jones was born January 16, 1948, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, a son of the late Richard Paul Jones and Muriel Sculthorpe Jones. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville and St. Bridgid Catholic Church in Johns Creek. Jeffrey had worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of the Treasury for over 35 years. He was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and, after his retirement as the I.R.S. Estate and Gift Tax Territory Manager, practiced law in Atlanta and Blairsville, specializing in Wills and Trusts.

He was an avid tennis player, golfer and football fan, but the greatest passion and joy of his life was spending time with his family, especially at the family’s Lake Nottely home.

Surviving family members include his wife of 43 years, Kathryn Phebus Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Leland Patron of Everett, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Paul Jones, Jr. and Erin of Denver, CO; son Lawrence Oliver Jones of Basalt, CO; daughter, Laura Michelle Jones of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons, Jacob and Joseph Patron; granddaughters, Morgan Olivia Jones and Ada Harper Jones; and nephews, Austin Schmidt and his wife, Jessica, Chris Schmidt and his wife, Jessica and Scott Collier. Many other family members and friends also survive.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville, with Father Juan Areiza and Father George Kloster officiating.
