Psalm 9:20 “Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men.”Forgive us, O Lord, when in our human pride we exalt ourselves to the pinnacle of self-sufficiency. We look at the most daring achievements of man and sometimes feel that we have finally arrived. Your blessings have been abundant upon our country and we are grateful. Forbid that we should put our faith in outward accomplishments for the inner man is still the same as he was from the beginning.
Cause our Nation to fear you and to turn to you through individuals like this person who reads this prayer. Help us to be strong in our souls . . . and then we can face whatever may come: through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
