Mr. Hoyt Edward Newman, age 71, of Copperhill, TN passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Newman was born in Farner, TN on April 4, 1944 to the late Carmel Newman and Thelma Pickelsimer Newman. He worked as a painter and foreman for TVA. He was a United States Army veteran and was preceded in death by a sister Sandy Newman.
He is survived by his children, Graylon Newman of Epworth; daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Jamie Born of Blue Ridge; sisters and brother-in-law, Annette Newman of Ducktown, Faye & Eddie Moore of Summerville, SC, and Brenda Collis of McCaysville, GA; grandchildren, Ivey Newman, Emily Newman, and Dakota (and wife Kelsey) Born; and longtime companion Omie Panter of McCaysville.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Roger Hyatt and Larry Cantrell officiating. Military honors will be provided by North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour of 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
