I Peter 4:16 “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”In your solemn presence, O God, we are able to face realistically the disappointments, dangers, reproaches, and praises, pains and successes of life. When we are disappointed you encourage us. When we are in danger, you protect us by your guardian care. When we are reproached you give us strength to suffer as a Christian. When we are praised you remind us that we are to glorify you. When we suffer the pains of service, you comfort us with the memory of our Savior who was ridiculed. And when we attain success for your glory, the cause of Christ is advanced.
Our hearts are so full of the afflictions of life, but all of those are dwarfed into insignificance in the light of your strong presence. We pray for those who suffer as Christians. Help them to glorify you in their suffering.
Especially help this one who seeks you now to have the courage to face life without flinching in the power of Christ our Lord.
Amen.
