Daily Prayer: March 16

Philippians 1:21-24. “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far: but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.” O God of Life, you hold our destiny in Your hands. You give such great assurance of the afterlife that we can see that being there is better than being here. But we are so earthbound that everything in us fights to remain here. We do know that the end of days will come for us all. To be prepared to live here makes us prepared to live there.

Some people never get right with life. They come at it crossways and never straighten out. They don’t believe that there is meaning to life because they haven’t found it. They don’t believe in the afterlife because they do not want to continue the hell they know here.

Help this one who reads this prayer to come to the person and place of peace through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.
