Robbinsville Man Arrested for Obtaining Dead Mother Prescriptions by Fraud

Murphy, NC— Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the March 06th, 2015 arrest of Charles Ray Orr, a 37 year old Robbinsville North Carolina man for obtaining controlled substances by fraud.On March 3rd, 2015 narcotic investigators with the Graham County Sheriff’s Office contacted narcotics investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office providing information that Orr had picked up two prescriptions from a pharmacy in Cherokee County. The prescriptions had been written for Orr’s mother who was deceased at the time that Orr had picked them up.

Following a short investigation Orr was arrested and brought to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was processed and released on a $2,000.00 secure bond and is scheduled to appear in Cherokee County District Court on March 17th, 2015.

Sheriff Palmer stated

“We continue to work with surrounding counties because this is a problem that not only affects Cherokee County. It takes continued team work from law enforcement and the community to make a difference.”
