Beyond his studies, David is a member of the Fannin County High School marching band and the Fannin County High School reading bowl. He is the son of Beau and Crystal Chancey, of Epworth, Georgia, and the grandson of Alan and Jeanette Chancey, of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Joe Lawrence, of Suches, Georgia and Debbie Lawrence of Canton, Georgia. David is planning for a career as an engineer and mathematician.
