Barbara Ann Nichols: Obituary

Barbara Ann Nichols, age 63 of Blairsville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home.Barbara was born July 24, 1951 in Blairsville, GA to Avery and Ruth Stamey Jones. She was a long time resident of Union County and a very active member of Faith Baptist Church where she served her Lord, mostly in Children’s Ministries, for the past 38 years. Barbara had worked in education, both in public and private schools, before leaving that for her most important and rewarding job, home-schooling her 2 children. She loved her family and was happiest when with them, especially, her grandchildren. She loved to bake and cook special dishes to please her family. She also enjoyed serving others using her cosmetology skills. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth.

Survivors include her husband, Sammy Nichols, father, Avery Jones, daughter, Amanda (Kevin) McBride, and son, Jimmy (Danya) Nichols, all of Blairsville; Brothers, Denny (Shirley) Jones of Dallas, GA and Benny (Heather) Jones of Marietta, GA; and grandchildren, Kendyl McBride, Jackson Nichols, Camden McBride, and Jacob Nichols.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Ernst officiating. Music will be provided by Martha Davenport, Rev. Rusty Thomas, and Kendyl McBride and Jackson Nichols. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Douglas Parham officiating. Pallbearers: Keith Jones, Tony Davenport, Billy Nichols, Josh Nichols, Les Jones, Jason Jones, Brad Jones, and Ric Hurd.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville Monday, March 2, 2015, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Liberty Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Brackett, 136 Forest Cir., Blairsville, GA 30512 or to The ALS Association, Georgia Chapter, 1955 Cliff Valley Way #116, Atlanta, GA 30329-2437, in her memory.
