We opened the county emergency operations center on Monday to monitor the weather and prepare to respond if needed. No requests for warming shelters were received and we had only minor power outages in the southern part of the county. The county road department did respond to several trees down due to ice but were able to get them cleared quickly and reopen roads.
Friday evening snow on roadways caused several motorists to slide off roads or become stuck on hillsides. Fannin Sheriff’s Office and Fannin Fire responded to several reports of stranded motorists and assisted them.
