Daily Prayer: January 22, 2015

Psalm 69:5 “O, God, Thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from Thee.” Forgive us O Lord for taking life into our own hands and thinking that we alone can carve our own destiny. Cleanse us from the sins of pride – because it goes before destruction, of lust – because unholy desires are sin, of jealousy – for it shows that our attitude is wrong, of selfishness – for its is immature for us to think only of ourselves.

Sin cannot be hid from You. We deceive ourselves into thinking we can get away with it and everything will be alright. Teach us that You do know our every thought, see our every deed, and do hold us accountable for every sin. We confess our foolishness and pray for forgiveness.

Grant us the understanding of sin that is necessary for us to overcome it; through Christ who died for our sins.

Amen
