Will Collins Vote For Boehner?

ELLIJAY, Ga – The Gilmer County TEA Party is asking citizens to contact congressman in hopes of persuading them to vote against John Boehner.Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert and Florida Congressman Ted Yoho have announced they are challenging Boehner for House Speaker.

Conservatives consider any vote for Boehner a vote for President Obama and are asking the citizens of Gilmer County to contact 9th district congressman Doug Collins, who serves the north Georgia area, to persuade him to vote for Gohmert or Yoho.

After speaking with Jack Smith, who is chairman of both the North Georgia Tea Party Alliance and the Liberty Group Tea Party, he said that he didn’t believe that Boehner provided proper leadership for the best interest of the conservative party.

Smith also stated that he had contacted congressman Collins, urging Collins to vote for Gohmert.

When asked if he had a message for the citizens, Smith said,

“I want everyone to become more involved in politics and to have a better understanding of the American political system because it affects their everyday lives.”

FYN made several attempts to contact congressman Collins for a statement on his vote for speaker. We started with asking Collins’ local field representative, Bill Kokaly, for contact information for the congressman Sunday morning.

Kokaly told us to call the D.C. office Monday and ask for the communications director. We called the congressmen’s office Monday morning 8:30am and got the answering machine. We were not able to leave a message the mail box said it was full. When we called back at 9 we were told we had to speak to Collins’ chief of staff, Brendan Belair. We left our name and number for the congressman or Mr. Belair to return our call.

FYN also sent Mr. Belair an email. We called again at 4:55, making one last attempt to let the congressman make a comment and we were told there was no one for us to speak with. Nothing from congressman Collins.

The vote for the new speaker takes place at noon tomorrow. I guess we just have to wait and find out after the vote.
