Sam Chambers was born in Franklin County, VA on October 7, 1921 and passed away on January 2, 2015 in Blue Ridge, Georgia.He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Helen McLaughlin Chambers, and his son, Philip Robert Chambers. In 1942, Sam joined the US Army Air Force. After World War II, he joined Norfolk Southern Railway and continued his 39-year career until his retirement in Houston, TX in 1986.
He is survived by his four daughters and one son; Patsi Brantley of Blue Ridge, GA, Debbie Scott of Holyoke, MA, Kimberly Yearout of Spring, TX, and Samuel Dewey Chambers, Jr. of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Ed Brantley, Mac Scott, and Randy Yearout; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four sisters and one brother; and three brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services will be at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX at 2:00 on Thursday, January 8. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park SH 249, Tomball, TX 77375. Klein Funeral Home of Spring, TX and Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA in charge of arrangements.
