Christmas Day Prayer: 12/25/2014

“Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly hosts appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’” Luke 2:13-14.Father of Grace and Glory, we read of how the heavenly hosts praised and worshiped you at the birth of Christ. We also bow before you on this Christmas Day to express our gratitude for your unspeakable gift of love to us.

This gift is being celebrated all over the world. It has raised the dignity of mankind and built into the fabric of society the worth of the individual.

This gift has enriched family life and created stable homes. It has put families who have been broken apart back together.

This gift gives hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless and joy to the joyless.

This gift holds forth the potential for world peace, the power for personal peace and grants divine favor to those who believe.

We worship you, O Lord, on this Christmas day with a song of praise that even the angels cannot sing – for they can never know Jesus like we do.
