Raymond “Hoot” Payne, age 62, of McCaysville, GA passed away Friday, December 19, 2014.Raymond was born in McCaysville to the late Wade and Nola Mae Payne. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked as an equipment operator with Mohawk Industries. He also was employed with the Tennessee Copper Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as a hobby. He was preceded in death by sister, Diane Queen of McCaysville, GA.
He is survived by daughters, Heather Payne and Karie Payne, both of McCaysville, GA; brothers, Charles (Judy) Payne of Chatsworth, GA, Danny Payne of Gainesville, GA; sisters, Cathy Gaddis of McCaysville, GA, Ruth Ann Payne of Chatsworth, GA; grandchild, Colby White; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Jim Holsonback and Rev.Thomas Payne officiating. Music will be by Rebecca Millsaps and Gary Patterson. Pallbearers include Danny Payne, Kenneth Gaddis, Waylon O’Neal, Billy O’Neal, Ronald Cearley, Brandon Long, Adam Deal and Robert Locke. Interment will follow in the Mobile Cemetery. Memorials be made to the funeral home to help defray final expenses. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
