The Second Commandment: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.” Exodus 20:4Lift our souls to you, O God, and help our worship of you to be pure. We pray that the means of worship shall never take the place of the object of worship. We thank you for the beauty of the sanctuaries in which we worship today. Your Word teaches us that you love beauty because of the marvelous array of the tabernacle in olden times.
May our worship of you always come forth from devout hearts that are led by your Holy Spirit. Teach us that our relationship to you is to be of faith: You are eternal, immortal and invisible and we know beyond any shadow of doubt that you are alive!
We confess, Our Father, that we do not know how to worship you as we should. Help this person who seeks you now to learn how to worship through daily personal worship at the feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
