BLUE RIDGE, Ga – After the first Fannin Board of Commissioners budget workshop was a bust, the second one went as it was intended to. (Read about the first budget workshop in this article: Budget Bust )
When only two department heads showed up prepared at the first budget workshop, Post 1 Commissioner Earl Johnson was concerned that perhaps the department heads didn’t know they were supposed to attend to explain their reasons for asking for budget increases.

So, before the second budget workshop, Johnson made sure the department heads were notified. The result was much different from the first workshop held.

Each department head took time to explain the reasons they had requested budget increases. Departments asked for things from vehicles to software upgrades, but almost all of the departments had asked for more money to either give employees raises or to hire additional employees.

Once all of the department heads had spoken, Johnson spoke to say that he was very thankful for everyone who took the time to explain their reasoning for asking for budget increases, not only to him, but also to the taxpayers.
