Daily Prayer: 11/14/2014

“Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.” Proverbs 17:1

O Lord, help us to reclaim the ability to be still and serene in the midst of the boiling – pots of conflict. We are choking on our plenty and our souls are impoverished in the accumulation of things which do not satisfy the longing heart.

We confess that we have been deceived by the great deceiver himself into thinking all that is necessary is to pursue the never ending desire to achieve what the world terms success. Remind us that we have not achieved it at all if there is strife in our homes and the inability to “be still and know that Thou art God”. Although the dry morsel does not glitter, may we see the value of it: through Jesus who lived in a lowly manner but was a King!

Amen.
